INTELLIGENT PRECISION FEEDING SYSTEM (IPF) - Exafan

The system has been designed to obtain the maximum efficiency and economic use of feed. It reduces excrement waste, generating greater feed intake and weight gain, while lowering production costs. This is the result of years of research and successfully winning the prize for Technical Novelty innovation at FIGAN 2019.

The equipment identifies and dispenses exact weighed feed formulations, providing the correct ration and composition of feed ingredients according to each animal´s genotype.
Each IPF can manage pens of between 13 and 25 animals or can be installed in a dynamic system to manage fattening groups.

Combining the IPF software wirelessly to a central computer, each animal present in the building is studied and automatically served the exact feed weight portions according to the state-of-the-art algorithms that compile a daily historic record in BIG DATA. This allows conclusive information to be collected on each individual animal (feed received, weight, daily weight, consumption, etc.) and on the system itself (feed stock, average batch weight, etc.) to make the necessary decisions at any given time, optimising the management of the farm.

Concurrent communication between the feeders, the central software, and the system’s users in real time can be reviewed remotely.

  • Tested in research centres such as the Wageningen University & Research (Netherlands) University of Lerida (Spain), INRA (France), and Agricultural Canada (Canada), among others.
  • Individual control of each animal: Using electronic identification ear tags, weight and feed individually. Adapting feeding according to each animal’s recorded data.
  • Reduced amounts of emissions (in the form of ammonia and nitrites), records prove a 20-25% reduction of nitrogen production.
  • Optimised growth: Better progression (within days 1-21 in the fattening period) improves daily gain and average reduction in the Conversion Index. Control weight during the last weeks. Resulting in: HOMOGENEOUS cycles.
  • Savings in feed consumption, estimated at between 15% and 35% in lysine protein building, and therefore in the efficient use and economic cost of feed.
  • Controls and improves the logistics of animal production and feed costs.
  • Animal Welfare: Competition between numerous animals sharing the same space is substantially reduced.
  • The need for protein-rich feed or energy-rich feed can be intelligently weighed and portioned.
  • Prediction and treatment of diseases: Decrease in antibiotic consumption by administering possible medications on an individual basis.
